The Language Development and Experimental Syntax (LDES) Lab at the University of Iowa studies child language development, second language acquisition, and heritage language acquisition of morphosyntax using experimental methods.

The lab’s mission is to expand the range of perspectives in language acquisition research, both by the languages studied and the researchers contributing to the field. We welcome students interested in any language, including speaker-linguists and those focused on underexplored languages.
